    Greatwhite, this is a 'USN MK I' type. You are correct
    though - the scabbard is not original.........

    Not really, other than aluminum was needed for other products,
    hence the wood pommel - and to say that American cutlery
    manufacturers were kept very busy during the war.
    They made so many of this type of knife, you can still find
    the MK1 today in mint condition - sometimes in original
    packaging by certain makers, such as 'PAL'.........
