    This picture is from manual for a Mosin Nagant rifle fro the year 1940.
    Yes, that small bottle is an oiler.

    It was driving me nuts!

    Obviously I have not seen that illustration before. The screwdriver shown is different to what I am used to seeing too. It all makes sence now

    yes ,you are right ,and i'm sure this is russ cleaning tool for mosin rifle. I founded a lot of them on many russ battlefields from 1941 in north-east Poland. I know 2 types of them !
