Hi Paul, thanks for the link. I was hoping to find some new info there, but I think I could actually add to it. The early 5 part set shown is the SN 38. I have two sets of this in my collection. The SN 42 came in two types as well which is not mentioned.

Ade this body armour must have been commonly worn by the Russian assault troops throughout the war i take it ?
We find quite a lot of it on our expeditions !!
