    Hi !

Here I wanna show you a soviet-russian fighting-knife of WWII, known as „NR 40“ (nozh razvedchika).

    translated: scout, or: reconnaisance-knife

This type of fighting-knife was introduced in 1940, so they named it "NR40".

This knife was manufactured by "ZIK" (Zlatoustovskij Instrumentalnij Kombinat).

The Sovietīs used this fighting-knife in Recon and Para-unitīs.

If thereīs anybody here could show pictures of this knife "in action", Iīd really appreciate that !

    Thx,

    R.

Yes, in 1991 I saw this knife the first time for myself, as polish comrades gave me some kniveīs while my duty at the Golan Hightīs in Syria.

This knife was manufactured quite a while.

These knives are pretty rare. The subject of the thread is a nice example, but for general information, the belt hanger has been replaced on the scabbard.

    Hi, Wes !

    Thx for answering !

You know, that thereīre also leather belt hangers, not only webbing oneīs ?

In the www. I saw some picīs with the same hanger like the hanger, mounted on my knife.

    But, who cares ...

    I like this knife !

Thereīre also green painted kniveīs !

    Cheerīs,

The fact that your hanger is not web was not the cause of my reply. The hanger on your knife does not appear to be of an original type, but a replacement.

Typically these are in a black, very thin, low grade leather. Typically attached to the belt hanger is a second leather strap across the handle with a metal retaining stud to close it. (much like the one on a "cavalry" version of a K98k bayonet frog.

Correct, there are green knives. Web belt hangers are new to me. I have never seen one like that.
