    Default Home Guard pattern haversack

I have been lucky enough to have been accquired two of these over the years. This was a special pattern of pack only issued to the Home Guard. The Home Guard had several items of kit unique to them. Of very simple design and construction and made from a water proof rubberised canvas material. These are now getting hard to find in good condition.

The one I show here is dated 1940 and maker marked for the "Pioneer Rubber Company Manchester" The interior is divided into two compartments.

    Cheers, Ade.

    Comrades...

You will be glad to read there are variants in manufacture of the HG pattern Haversack...
    Enjoy...

The Ammunition is 0.303 but not period as you will note.. it is only to fill the pouch.

Thanks for adding these pics Comrade. The ammo pouches are hard to find.

The only other Home Guard items I have ever had was a denim BD & trousers, complete with HG armband sewn in place. It was also named. But it sold this to a specialised HG collector before I was given these packs. Wish I had kept it now. But back then I had no other British items. Still it went to a good home.

    Cheers, Ade.
