Nice item and not often seen.

They have never been that common an item, and so are a nice addition to any collection, most appear to be in this burnt orange shade, but I have seen examples which are more olive drab in colour, almost all appear to be 1943-44 in date.

Any idea what a canteen like this is worth? Reason I ask is because I also have one. One of my early collectables I found at an indoor flea market.
It was hiding in a canteen cover that was missing the belt hook. I walked past it, turned around and for some unknown reason, opened the flaps to find what I thought was a canteen painted by some previous owner. Imagine my surprise when I removed it from the cover.
