    Well as soon as I get back to the camp I'll take it out of my bergan I never new that these things were valuable due to large numbers being produced, I've got about 25 on them in a box of equipment somewhere

    Cheers for this post Ade, I'd forgotten the two early bandoleers that I was given by an old guy in the U.S.They are both of 1918 origin, but one has buttons?

    Hi Pete,
    buttons are fine... seen plenty before- wish i'd grabbed some.

    In case anyone is worried/diaspointed by these possibly being Australian:
    Britain imported huge amounts of ammo from Australia, America, and Canada, particularly between 41 and 43. Only a 1/4 of the 303 cases I find in local fields were made in the British Isles (done around 2,000 acres now, so got a lot of em).

    Thanks for the info Jim, are they Aussie? It's very interesting to know.I also have some 60's dated , which had war time dated ammo in them, given to me after they had been fired.I need to get some tips to go with them

    i believe that the MG with a box with a line through means
    NOT for machine gun use
    any more thoughts on that? cheers all ian

    God, you guys it makes me feel really old when I see some of the bits of kit on here, I used loads of these as a cadet.
