About M7 Holsters

Hi Guys,

I just bought a used complete 1944 dated M7 holster, will post some photos hopefully next week.
I've been looking for such holster for about 6 years!!!

I have a few questions:

- Are they consider rear?
- Some examples have "M7" stamped at the back. Mine is without M7. Any reason?
- Were they mainly used by tankers?
- I tried look for some information, but without much found. Any additional info would help.
- Can you please post your examples here?

Hi Taka, I posted an M7 on the forum here last year, I believe they were used mainly by Vehicle crews, Aircrew and Airbourne forces, as for rarity I have read on other forums that USMC ones are perhaps more desirable as there were fewer made and later during WWII, (I may be biased as mine is a 1945 Boyt USMC) my own example is not stamped M7 anywhere, They are also well copied and some very good quality repro's are widely available, I will try to post some photos of mine later.

Thank you for your info. Now that you've mentioned USMC version, that' s a rear kind for sure! So there might even a USN made ones, which would be even harder to find, I assume.
I myself have a few 1911 holsters (x1 WWI, 2x WWII), one 1942 dated revolver holster, one M3 with USN at the back in my collection.

Taka very nice I have a WWII USMC one and I use a newer one when I'm hunting.
