    British 2 inch mortar round most likely a parachute flare one from the color of it

    It's a slowly descending flare used to light up a night battle , often seen in Vietnam war movies like Platoon , Apocalypse Now .

    I would also saw it was a white flare , denoted by the white exterior to the round . Nope your never too Old to learn something New !
