Default ATS special issue kit bag

Hiya, this item was introduced in 1944.

Popular and very practical. The bag fastens up with a rope and a press stud flap.

This is the first pattern. It was later improved by widening the opening making it easier to pack/unpack. I will show the second pattern in the next post.

This one forms part of named group of items in my collection to Private M Heatley, W/161123.

    Maker marked and dated 1944.

    Cheers, Lez

2nd pattern ATS kit bag. It is easy to see the bigger opening to this bag with the longer flaped covering.

    Named to "Leebody, R.S. W/401914".

The bag is also now faintly stenciled in white "Singapore" to the outside of the bag.

    1944 dated.

    Cheers, Lez.

What did the ATS use as a kit bag before '44 Lez? I seem to recall seeing a smaller version of a man's kitbag?

Hiya, yes the men's style kitbag was used. I think I have one packed away?

    Cheers, Lez.
