Just thought I would share my collection of Australian Blankets. They have all been picked up locally here in the UK and are all in great condition, testament to the quality of the wool. I have not specifically chosen Australian blankets to collect but that is all I find. They go nicely with my Commonwealth Ambulance Jeep though

Interesting that the Challenge Woollen Mills does not have a manufacturer number.

Nice lot, I don't see these often down here. Here's one I have, Victorian made.

Certain things like Australian Puttees and Blankets have been on the market in the UK for a long time. Quite if they were imported more recently or a warehouse has been cleared some where I do not know but probably the latter.

I always check any period looking blankets for dates whenever I stay at army camps but never found a war-time dated example. The pattern is now leaving army service so unlikely to find any.

The Challenge blanket was probably made very early 1942 just before the code system came in.
I need to remember where I put mine.

These are really nice thick wool blankets and still good for a cold night today, they use to turn up in abundance at the QLD gun shows.

Some great examples here. These are not easy to find.
My blanket is unfortunately missing its tag so I can't be sure of age.
