Hi Guys, another item found today in my box of treasures

As the war progressed, the 1937 pattern belt underwent a few changes, all in aid of economy.

The brass keepers have now been replaced with thin webbing. The small buckles on the back are now made of Sheradised steel. This was not intended to be polished and has a dull grey gun metal style finish. Sometimes the buckles to the front will be steel too, but on this examples they are still made of brass, no doubt using up old stocks. The adjustment hooks are also steel and are sewn directly onto the ends of the belt, again saving on the previous issues made of brass.

The belt is marked "L" for Large and is maker makred and dated 1945.

These are now quite hard to find. Sgt Major's must have hated these!

Not to be confused with the later early 1950's issues which had Bonderised steel fittings which appear matt black in appearance.

    Cheers, Ade.
