So is this from the WW2 time frame? Were these used later that that?

Cheers Mate, Yep WW2 time frame, I think these where first made in '43 and definitely used well into the Korean conflict at least. This one has a feint 1944 stampby AZPhil

Great looking Bergan in fantastic condition.
They were on issue for "donkey's years", before the so-called "SAS/Para" Bergan came on issue in the late 1970's/early 1980's.
When I first joined the Territorial Army 1981, one of the sergeant-majors had one, (he was ex-parachute regiment)

Quite possibly belonged to John Charles Gahan, an officer in the RAN during WWII, listed on the Nominal Roll, from Melbourne. Hard to prove though.
