    Default British webbing Map case No.2 , W & G Ltd 1944

Technically not Pattern 1937 webbing, (I believe the No1 type was approved in 1940), This type No.2, is a variation of the original No.2 and dates from 1944.

They feature a celluloid window cover for the map and a brown pressed composite board of "Tufnol" (thank goodness they don't make it anymore) and a few pockets for protractor and china pencils. Maker is "W & G Ltd 1944" (Waring & Gillow)

Period photo is of NZ Army officers on the Treasury Islands in 1944.

Yes, That would be the Type No.2, Mk1. My one is apparently classified as "Map Case, Type No.2, Mk 2" by those who revel in nomenclature.

The Army just called, they want all their map cases back in case of satellite shut-down.
