Article about: hi looking at buying a british ww2 gas mask bag seen one for sale but they say its a royal navy bag. will it be the same as ww2 army ? thanks

Yes, the Royal Navy used the same gas mask and case as the other services. The only way to tell would be if it has the sailors name and rank written in it. I am assuming of course that the bag is otherwise correctly identified by the seller, there being two basic types, the large khaki haversack type for the early war long hose gas masks, and the later war small green bags for the lightweight type with the filter mounted on the mask. Wartime bags are often clearly marked and dated.

Agree with Douglas ww2 British gas mask bags have 7 different MK's.Each one is better than the previous one!

thanks for the reply its was a canadian gas bag its a bit faded any idea how to restore it to look like the same colour as a british gas bag

I think that are the same,but the canadian one has a pocket inside to put the antidim stick
