Jerry can Military ?

Hi all picked up this jerry can with a few military items at a garage sale on the weekend . the jerry is dated 1978 and says CSN 162803 or USN 162803 can't make it out properly .Also it has what I think is a makers name on the opposite side .I was wondering if this is a military issue jerry ? maybe NATO ? any help would be great .

Certainly appears to be military.

I'm just unsure because it has none of the brit commonwealth tell tail marks . That is why I thought US or NATO maybe ?

Probably Civvy but not certain. The ribs are same as civvy ones and I have seen 20L on civvy ones too.
