Default M2 Compass & case question

I've been carrying this compass around for longer than I can remember. Can anyone let me know how old it is and what its value may be? I have not come across any other postings/pictures with this compass that have the leather case.
    The serial number is 74039.

    Thanks

Hi Tomb. Judging by it's condition, ID plate and case, I'd say it was
a WWII US compass. Sorry, I have no idea on price - possibly
    between $50 and $100.........
    Regards,

    Steve.

It's a US Army, M2 Artillery Compass, the military version of thr Brunston Pocket Transit. It was used in WWII by artillery survey teams. Dwight

I am tempted to say that the compass might be post WWII, it looks to me like a late fifties made version. Don't bet on it though. The M19 case seems to be quite in a good shape, price would very much depend on in what shape the felt on the inside is!
