MECo -esque rifle? sling, where is it from, please?

Article about: Picked up this ropey old sling the other day, but I havn't been able to find out what it is. Everything about it says it's a standard British empire sling.... except the hollow rivets. It's

    Great spot on the faked up MECo 1941 markings AIF, I am in complete agreement! Odd that they would have a fake SS Holden stamp on the one sling though...

    Best one was the 1940 stamps on slings with steel fittings! LOL

    Just heard back from KW..... Possibly a ww2 expedient/ economy job...... they are looking into it....... wait, out.

    Nothing further to add from KW, can't find anything in any paperwork..... but there are a few examples about so best geuss at present is ww2 economy.
