    Default My Grandads things

    Some thing of his I've had for years. He was in a Welsh Regiment before the war, and he went ashore on D-Day. I've been told he was stationed in Germany for a bit after the war too. Thats all i really know about him. Having his things got me interested in militaria from a young age, i don't buy much - the occasional thing from a car boot or charity shop, but i do enjoy seeing and reading about the stuff posted here.

    Nice group of stuff Rob. Its good when there is a family connection, makes the stuff almost priceless ( not literally)... you know what I mean

    I've read that German binoculars were particularly prized 'trophies'- because German optics were and still are some of the best; ddx was the maker code for Voigtländer & Sohn AG in Braunschweig

    Nice group you have there..and a connection too.I especially like the compasses and the FS knifeany chance of some more pics of it?
    I have a set of the knife fork and spoon like yours, made by Richards of sheffield.(better quality than their penknives!!)
