Hi all.
Can someone tell me what this was used for ?. It measures 60 x 60 x 825mm long.
The main compartment/groove is 5.5mm wide and 27mm deep.
Australian Army issue but other Commonwealth countries may have used a similar item

I think I have seen one before which containing some surveying equipment, from memory it was a long brass ruler type thing

The case is very well made and looks to be cedar...even the screws holding the two attachment plates on have all their slots lining up parallel with the case.
