Question Need Help Identifying Birmingham 1942 tin...

    Hi,
Newb here. I just bought this tin in an opportunity store (thrift store) in Australia for 50Au cents (approx 39cents US or 24p Eng last month) and I'm wondering what it is for.

    Has these markings:

    MB
    1942

(yeah, that > is supposed to be the broad arrow acceptance stamp but obviously there's nothing on a keyboard like that arrow). The B is merged into M. These markings are stamped into the centre of the tin. Hmm, MB is likely to be Moore Bros OF Birmingham.

    dimensions are: 4cm deep X 16.5cm long X 12.5cm wide.

I'm not sure of the purpose of the tin, but it was made by the Metal Box Company, Limited of London...
