Hi, looks good to me, an M-1942 US canteen, the pictures says G.P.&F.Co which is Geuder, Paeschke, Frey Co.

Hi, there is no such canteen as an M45, there were two used during the second world war the M-1910 which is made of two halves and welded vertically and the M-1942 which are welded horizontally. The 1945 is the date of manufacturer not a model number. Also S.M.Co is Southeastern Metals Co.

I understand which is why i also left the manufacture in the last comment which is S.M.Co Southeastern Metals Co., it is not uncommon to have mismatching manufacturers on cups and canteens.

Maybe, however 69 years is a long time for it to get dented by other means, it is more likely to have been issued post war, if i remember correctly there is a 6 month period between being manufactured and arriving to a soldier in Europe.
