Odd 1942 Rucksack

Article about: Any ideas on this '42 dated rucksack? just seems a bit odd to be dated, if commercially made. any thoughts appreciated!

    I think the straps have come from something else and have been added to this rucksack at a later date , I have seen a lot of post war made rucksacks that have had 37 patt straps and parts used on them

    thanks kradman, i thought this would be the case, but whoever did it must have been a bit of a perfectionist. All the straps are dated 1942 and seem to be in the same place.
    Weird.

    I agree, I have a very similar one with 1943 and 44 dates on it, but they are clearly recycled 1937 pat.
    On yours, The font and size of the numerals is a little odd, also the weave, but the Bergen itself is a bit far from pattern.

    I once saw a golf club bag in the UK that was made entirely from 37 pattern webbing and WW2 canvas!

    But they were a thing!Made by Mills equipment company.

    I've got a golf bag in 44pat..... How do you play golf in the jungle?

    I would assume an entire troop of locals with machetes and shovels, have a good field cleared out in a matter of days...
