An odd Addition

This was in the pocket of my 1951 dated 1949 pattern RAF battledress. If anyone can shed some light on this sewing kit. Thanks in advance.

Any little stamps or markings on the kit or contents?

yes the legible numbers are 27593531 on the kit on the pencil it is marked H NO.596 royal sovereign "YELLOW HEX" Made in GT. Britain.
I know as I am his brother.
Edit: The numbers are in ink and look stamped.

I believe that it's the standard issue WW2 British sewing kit (housewife).
This style of sewing kit dates back to WW1 I believe (possibly even before that).
