I just bought a WW2 gas mask from 1941 made by the Macdonald Plant in Toronto. I was wondering if these masks contained asbestos? Or do all WW2 era masks contain it? If so how safe is it to be around?

Here is a picture of it if that helps.
From what I have heard afew do contain Asbestos but I dont know which do. Personally I treat them all as they do. I have heard people pour white glue into the filters to seal them as it dries clear so it doesnt effect the look. I just dont play them them, or wear them of course
I would say yes it does and it is safe as long as you don't put it on and breath through it.

Thank you, do you guys know any other information about it? Like what it would be worth or where it may have been used?
Nothing special about it, standard Canadian gasmask, same model and british and Aussie, would have been issued in a carry bag. Value around $50 - $60 I would say

Like Volksjager said, treat them all as having asbestos...so long as the filter is intact and not damaged or cracked it is safe......if it is damaged, seal it in a plastic bag and dispose of it safely.
Even if these masks didn't have asbestos, I wouldn't want to breathe ~70yrs of dust and gunk.
