Hello Mick.
All the wartime ones I have seen have had no border to the 'lenses'.
They all looked like this............................
Thanks Mate,
Here is a pic of Rommel wearing the Goggles, look like mine but they are clear.also look to have the borders.
Here are a couple of postcards of Rommel one photo in colour and one painting Looks like he liked the clear ones.
Were the clear ones supposed to be British Anti-Gas goggles ??
.. I thought I'd heard a story some time back that they were popular with the DAK ?
Gary J.
Yes i believe they were Anti Gas Goggles,Gary.
and no wonder they would be popular with the DAK,if their leader wore them.
Mick
These are indeed British Anti gas goggles or more correctly, "Eyeshileds, Anti Gas, MKII" . They can be found with clear or tinted lens. They come in slightly different style depending on maker.
I will have to photograph some more of mine. Here is a clear pair and a packet of tinted versions.
Cheers, Ade.
Ade, you've beat me to it again I'll get some pictures of my examples up later on aswell
Thanks
Danny
