Rucksack or Haversack + markings ?
Hi all,
Am new to the site. Very informative, looking forward to going through it.
In the mean time, I have come across my old - ex army - Rucksack (or is it a Haversack ?)
Firstly: Whats the difference ?
Secondly: can anyone tell me what the marking indicate please (images later).
Inside the top/lid:
M&S ↑ 1844
Outside the top/lid:
PACK. ANCILLARIES
20 M/M Mountings
Mk 1
Size (Empty):
300w x 390h x 130deep mm
Even though its 'old', it's not been used.
Thank you for reading this.

Re: Rucksack or Haversack + markings ?
It sounds British from the inside markings. I've never seen the outside markings before, but I've not seen all the bags they used. Can you post some pictures? That would help
Welcome to the site, you'll learn a lot here, I did!

Re: Rucksack or Haversack + markings ?
Sounds interesting..Something to do with a 20mm cannon.M&S would be the maker of the bag, Marks and Spencer i believe. The date would be 1944.
Pictures would be great.
