Thanks Rene the weave of the material just looked kind of odd to me I will have to track down a couple for my collection I see them come up for sale on occasion on E-bay out of the land of OZ.

What was the main idea behind a "jungle type" pouch? Why wasn't the standard patt. '37 pouch sufficient?

The where larger to accommodate extra gear rations etc. as supply in jungle areas is much more dificult

    Gday all,
A quick post on the run
Some Australain made P 37 pouches. The later war Australian pouches were larger than the standard early war pouch,so it's hard to define an Australian Bren pouch as such.
This 1954 build would be the closest,

These are examples of the later larger Australian WW2 made pouch with a smaller '42 build for comparison. As you can see they are only slightly larger in height and a tad wider.

    And a few more smalls,

This gear used to be throw away cheap but not anymore.

What I am chasing are two small Khaki (not Blanco'd) haversac's (the side pack) to finish my webbing sets. Hard to find as they were used up in civi street as carry all's and fishing bags. Bugger

    All the best
    Dave

Thanks for that Rene my Mk III pouches are 9''x 4 x 2'' 5\8 the jungle pouches are considerably larger

Thanks for chiming in on the run Dave some good examples being shown here the haversack's that you are looking for do they have to be P-37 from the land of OZ or will any war time manufactured kit do from the commonwealth.

    Regards Mark K
