    I didn't realise the significance beyond the ZA code until I cleaned seventy years of crud and saw the stencilled marking 'Tabby Eqpt:
    Tabby Equipment Box
    Tabby was the name given to the first infra red signalling and scope used by British airborne and special forces in WW2- Arnhem Jim: WWII British Special Forces Night Vision Technology - "TABBY" RG Receiver
    I can't imagine too many of these boxes survived so it was quite nice to find this one for £5 this morning- I just need to knock up a new lid to finish it off.
