    Im no expert, i just had a bit of a google and reckon its early or pre ww2;

    It apears there were binoculars for this flash spotting during ww2 (although scopes may have been in servce as well) Target Acquisition & Counter Bombardment

    Also nearly all kit was labeled with a catalogue number from 1944.

    It is a bit of an odd one for me, cant seem to find anything about it anywhere. I agree that it may be pre war, but i can only seem to find "binocular" versions.
