Did someone re-solder the seam of the canteen? Can't tell clearly from the picture.

I had two like this as a kid. Filled them with water and put them in the freezer before a hike. Pop!! Oh how I regret that day

    Regards,

    Michael

I don't think is re-solder at all. All original stitchings.

There are two minor difference of this "Rabbit Ear" covers. There is either a hole or no hole underneath. I have both examples.

    Very nice items.

    Cheers!

    Thanks Taka-san,

Maybe I missunderstood you, but I was talking about the canteen itself. Not the cover. If original, the soldering on the seam looks a bit sloppy. Could be my ignorance..........

    Hi Michael-san,

Yes, I'm in Canada now, will be staying here for good.

Sometimes the canteens were poorly welded, still an un-messed original piece.

    Cheers!

How common were the bakelite handled mess kit knives? Never really seen them before.
