Some nice examples of this great boot! My pair have also been around the block. Unfortunately, the ink stamps are barely legible, April 1943, I think? I didn't know about the two letter code standing for makers mark. Does anyone know what the 'GX' code stands for? Cheers
Chris,
I don't know the background on the manufacturer codes, but I've mostly seen them start with "F" and "G".
Even with that, there is no consistency; the code in my '44 International Shoe Co. is "GT". The code in
Rene's '45 International Shoe Co is "GY"...
I can't quite read your stamp, but it looks like International Shoe Co. as well. With a "GX" code.
There might be more info available, but I have not researched this.
I had a pair of these buckle boots that I bought when I was 14 years old
to use for camping. I'm not sure what year they were but I do remember
they were a lighter sand color. My mother hated them because they left
really bad black scuff marks on her linoleum kitchen floor.
