Hello, here is Julekpl again. I am currently on vacation in North Carolina, and I have stumbled upon an antique store run by a WW2 US Veteran. He served in the battle of Omaha beach, and unfortunately he had sold most of his belongings from his army days, all but his canteen and belt. Poor guy is suffering from Alzheimers, but has good memory of the battle of Omaha. After hearing his story and seeing his pictures, I had to get the canteen. The gentleman was nice enough to sell it for only $5. It's sad how in the eyes of most of today's youth, these people are just old people. Here are some pictures of the canteen. Oh and on the belt, there is a single button, and there is something written in it, but without my cleaning equipment, I cannot tell what it says. The canteen is labeled "US Vollrati 1944" and it has a large dent in the side, but is overall in very good condition. Any thoughts? Thanks! Click image for larger version.
