Us Gasmask bag

Article about: Hi, im currently looking at this one. Unfortunately does not have the gasmask. Still, its cheap and will look good on my "GI". What do you fellas think? Cheers. Nuno

    Hi,

    out of interest, here's a few shots of the bag I spoke of. I found it in the loft and dusted it down. In my mind the print was yellow for some reason but in reality it's black. Cheers,

    Yep, 50's.Used up until the M1917 was issued.

    That’s a nice find, an early all khaki kidney shaped gasmask bag is quite a rarity these days most have at least a little bit of olive O.D#3 on them somewhere.

    The “U” is the size as in Universal, I have also seen some masks marks “S” Small on WWII as to the other bag “M L” then its ether Medium/Large or Medium Left meaning the side that the filter canister was attached to the Mask most WWII and post war M9A1 US Masks have the filter mount on the Left hand side (as taken when being worn), however I have seen picture of models with the canister mounted on the opposite side I would assume for some special purpose or a left hand rifleman etc.
