Just added these to my USAAF collection. They are in perfect working order. The goggles came with the tin container, 2 red lens and also the instruction sheet.
I'll post more with the A9 cloth flight helmet when I get it all set up.

They are James. The density function works great. I took them out and looked at our Desert sun and adjusted the dial in the front and they went from normal vision to a welder type tint. I can't wait to check out the tracer capability of the red lenses when I hit the range this weekend and put some tracers down range during the day time, My kids say I look like a Mad scientist with them on so I'm sure I'll get some serious looks at the range. But do I care, Hell No!!!!!!!!

I wonder, if goggles of this type was also used for A-bomb testing?

    Hi Phil - nice pick-up.

These are really in mint condition as already said. This type was
not popular or worn all that much during the war, and quickly
phased out - that's why these are so nice.

I believe they could have been used by the US Navy and
Anti-aircraft units as well, not strictly AAF pilots
    and aircrew.........
    Regards,

    Steve.
