What is this jeep?

I have been offered this jeep and basically don't know any more than it looks like a jeep. It appears to be a 1944 example but then anyone can rivet on a data plate. The wheels look unusual and I am not sure about the windscreen motors. Obviously I accept some items may well have been changed following its original manufacture. What I need to know is if its basically correct and if you guys have an idea of what its worth or a fair price to pay for it. Any help is much appreciated as it really is a minefield with such things and i only want to get it if its essentially a ww.2 jeep.

1944 Willys Jeep. There have been some additions and modifications to it,
such as a repaint, wipers and signal lamps - plus, the driver's seat
has been bent backwards to fit a large person.

It's possible that it is a modified French M201 'Hotchkiss' jeep, which
were made under license post-war,as the wheels are not the WWII
'combat' type. These are almost identical to the American
made Willys 'MB'.........

Sorry this is a French Hotchkiss M201.

Giveaways:

Windscreen
Wheels
Body: note the lack of rectangular cut out where the top of the body folds over and is welded to the dashboard. This would be in the middle near the dashboard lights. Holes for wireless ariel mounts on the rear body corners.

After having a closer look - Ade is absolutely correct. All the items and areas
he mentions prove it's a 'M201' Hotchkiss - not a WWII Willys.

It will not be worth as much as an original Willys MB jeep, which can sell
today ( in excellent condition ) for between $12,000 to over $25,000
- depending on the quality of the restoration.........

No worries.

I have seen soooooo many of these over the years fiddled with the make them wartime. Which is a great shame, a nice vehicle in it's own right. I even have seen people carve out that rectangular notch on the dash.

French made product is not seen over here much, if at all. In North America,
the post-war 'CJ-2A' ( Civilian ) jeeps are occasional victims of this kind
of treatment - reworked to resemble WWII models.
The rear tailgate is replaced with a new repro panel, plus a WWII
style grille, but the instant 'give-away' on these is the large
transmission 'hump'.........

Yet another M201 masquerading as a Willys MB, as Ade stated WOF Wheels, Widescreen and rear body tub standard production Hotchkiss type based on the late WW2 Composite body used form mid to late 1943-1945 again as Ade stated minus the press tooling cut out in the dash front and the 2 inch oblong rib in the front floor pan on the passengers side.
