    I've seen one a long time ago but forgotten what kind of gas mask went in it.

    Listed as 1942, so early war.

    The unit that I reenact was issued these. They are commonly called the "heavy" gas mask with kidney bag.

    Definitely an early war item.

    Here are some gas related pieces of kit that you can add to your bag:

    (Please note that some of these items are mid-late war. Specifically, the rubber gas mask bag, assault gas mask and the gas detection brassard which was worn by invasion troops on D-Day. This particular gas mask is a post war variant. I need to paint it black in order to better represent a wartime assault gas mask.)

    Official name A1VA1 or Kidney bag,and was used for all M1/M2/M3 Diaphragm voice inhibitor series masks.M3/M4 Lightweight service masks used the new M6 bag................

    I saw one of the gas masks a couple of weeks ago.
    Will have to see if they are still about.
    All made by the same company?
    Any variant to look out for? Colours?

    You will find the majority in this colouring, this one is common maker that also makes air crew oxy's. There where lots of makers
