Hello here is Julekpl again. I have purchased a WW2 British tank crew holster, but is it from the African campaign? I have 2 books which show British tank crews using this holster, but not labeled what campaign. Any thoughts? Thanks. Oh and it does have live 9mm rounds still in it, marked "44" (1944?)

    Thank you

I think this type was issued on all fronts, not just Africa, but they were used there.

but it must be tank crew for sure...I can't see running in the infantry with a revolver swinging into your knee. Thanks for the info. Local yard sales are worth going to then.

Yes for certain, this type is for tank crews and maybe other AFV's, such as armoured cars. This type is always known as a Tankers Holster. Very nice item.

In addition to what Jerry has told you, these holsters although never officially intended for regulation use by Airborne troops, were utilized by men of the 1st Indep. Para Platoon in Italy, Southern France and Greece.
