WWII Canteen

Just wondering if anyone has any info on this WWII canteen. It is my Grandpas. Is there any value to this?

Nice ww2 canteen dated 1941, if they cup is inside it is worth about 30 maybe 20 without it very nice canteen

A very nice 1941 dated canteen. All pre 1941 U.S. canteen cover that I own or encountered have a full connecting slit on the back side. By 1942, for easier manufacturing, they make the connection slit shorter. This example has only a short slit which locates on the top part back of the cover. However, I've seen a 1942 dated canteen cover with a full slit. It's a very common item, but I never get tired of them. What's the date on the canteen and the cup? I really like the cover. Thank you for posting.
