I too would like to know what these are LOL I have one myself, with a slightly different number, from Stalingrad- I bought it years ago expecting it'd be a LW flying unit since those were number coded, but when I finally got a list of the LW MOB numbers, I found there aren't any codes in the 100 000s; the 5-digit codes end around 74 000 and then jump to the 200 000s. So it seems these aren't LW unit discs. I've heard it suggested that Feldpostnummern might be used on discs, but I don't know a thing about those nor why they would be- that's the only other number system I'm aware of...

The number would be too high for Feldpost I think?

    Cheers, Ade.

Feldpost numbers have only 5 numbers, though they can have letters in front or behind, but never more than 5 numbers (from research by others), so it's not a feldpost number, IMO.

It is found north of the village of Gorodische. This place is not close to the positions of the paratroopers (village of Orlowka) and not close to the airfield Pitomnik or Gumrak.
    Found next to the railroad

Okay mate will do some research as to units in that area but of course in the retreat from the pocket frontline during the January offensive many units were moving back in disorder through Gorodische !!

There are many coded discs that nobody has been able to identify- if it's not a Feldpostnummer (which sounded unlikely to me), then it's just a mystery for now, like mine. The 'E' prefix makes yours even stranger though- I've only seen one single Luftwaffe unit with a prefix letter on the list of many hundreds of units, but it was 'B'. There would sometimes be series- 'A', 'B', 'C' suffixes for one number, but prefixes weren't normally used.

Doubtless the MOB list isn't complete- much was lost in the war and the Soviets stole half the documents at the end and they're probably still stuffed away in archives who knows where?
