This is one of the very few replacement units that had multiples of the same main number- denoted by Roman numerals. Strictly speaking a Roman numeral is usually the indicator of a Bataillon, so it would seem really strange to be here since you can't have a Bataillon of a Bataillon- but in this case it's actaully like a movie sequel title written by someone with no imagination: the 2nd IEB 482.

But it's not a reserve unit- just a standard replacement unit. Every man who entered the service once the war had begun went to his local unit's replacement bataillon for induction and basic training. IEB482, for example, was created on 11. September, 1939 so every local man who entered the army after that date went here.

It's an original one and let's say a little specific due to stampings but it's "only" replacement battalion...

Right- it's not really anything special, I just mentioned the detail because normally if one were to see what appeared to be a Bataillon of a Bataillon, it'd possibly seem like a faker's error when it's not.
