Thanks for that - can you tell me how the information breaks up- ie Tholen is obviously ? his name -what the rest mean?

It's a 'field made' one if it really is original- clearly it's not a standard KM disc. I doubt it's a fake though- nothing special enough about it. The name is the soldier's name of course, and the N means he was in the Nordsee division (the other being the Ostsee- and not a division as in the army unit, but simply the two 'halves' of the KM); 1990 was his roll number and 38 the year he was registered; T means he was in the technischen Dienst (technical services). It's probably a replacement disc for one lost- and a proper blank wasn't available, so someone just made do by banging this fellow out...
