Hi guys, here is another ground dug dog tag from Czech republic.
I was told it is for Eastern volunteers. Is it for WH or SS? Does anyone have more info about it?
Regards
Chris

Generally anything below a Bataillon isn't listed in the usual references, so it's not likely you'd be able to find anything about this super-specialist Kompanie.
Ohhhhh- pillage then burn...
hmmm more research then

EISB.PI.KP = Eisenbahn Pioner Kompanie?
Pioneer was my first thought but i have no idea if its fore WH or SS units.

Frundsberg has it right- it's the specialist Pioniere who worked on or constructed railways and they're regular Heer. SS units always have 'SS' as a formal part of the title, so it's 'SS-Pionier', 'SS-Grenadier', 'SS-Panzer', etc.
Ohhhhh- pillage then burn...
And I may stand corrected- there's a listing on the Lexikon der Wehrmacht site for Eisenbahn-Pionier-Regiment 5 that seems to indicate that their 5. Kompanie also had the number '97'? It's in the Feldpost Nr. list.

Matt, the numbers " 79" and "67" which are engraved/stamped on the tag, are related to the feldpost or are units numbers?

The unit is Eisenbahn-Pionier-Kompanie 79, and a number elsewhere would usually be the roster number, so this was Freiwilliger Nr. 67; none of it has to do with the Feldpost Nr.- that was just the list in the unit info that showed the 5. Kompanie also had the number 79 associated with it- presumably meaning it was specifically Eisenbahn-Pionier-Kompanie 79, but considered the 5. Kompanie of the Regiment.
Ohhhhh- pillage then burn...
Great, thanks for the effort Matt. Now we have it all.
