Hi guys and thanks for the opinions. Interesting thoughts.

The disc is a ground dug relic, made of zinc.
About the wear around the holes i can see it too, especially on the top left one. I assume it could be from a chain not a cord. I have seen tags in the past being worn with chains instead of the cord.
The Stammrollennummer issue needs to be researched further.
It was found together with other tags in the area of ČIMELICE (Battle of Slivice) which took place on 11-12 May 1945.

Just a bit of historical context to the DF tag , the DF was in the Praque area in early May 1945 tasked with escorting german civilians and female workers etc out of the City to surrender to the Americans rather than the Russians or Czech partisans.

The Regiment surrendered to American forces , 2nd Infantry Divison at 10 am on the 9th May 1945 so they certainly would appear to not have been involved in combat after that time and date .

Of course it is possible that a member of DF was seperated from the Regiment or fighting as part of an ad hoc Kampfgruppe at that time !!

Most of the info on this particular Battle suggests that the DF were heavily involved which they clearly were not , as i say the German forces were more than likely Kampfgruppe formed from many units.

A chain wouldn't explain the sharp edges- it'd still rub all over as it moved slightly when the man moved; the disc hasn't enough mass to be pulling on a chain taughtly to groove it like that I think. And since the roll number is exceedingly low- the ones I have photos of are 6501, 6855 and 11300, one would have to believe this man made it through the entire war- pretty uncommon I should think. Now that all being said, I just realized the Stab one I have is actually marked 'Stab. II./ ,,D.F." ' and has the roll number 29- that may suggest they did in fact have Kompanie markings at the beginning but moved to a central roll later on. Of course it may also be that just the Stab sections had their own rolls. It's still extremely uncertain and that's dangerous with SS stuff LOL

Nice detective work Matt. One must check all parameters in order to be sure for something.
Unfortunately due to high prices SS stuff are being heavily faked making the collecting interest a minefield.
I think i'll take the risk with this one

Yeah, that's the sad bit. Well I hope it turns out you've made a wise purchase When you get it, do post some larger photos and perhaps we can see more then. It's not impossible that the sharp wear marks are a trick of the light in that photo.
