Great grandfathers Erkennungsmarken
Hi all,
something slightly different, I'm trying to figure out what my great grand fathers dog tag would have been.
He last served as an Oberleutnant of the reserves with infantry regiment 84 before his discharge on 31-Jan-1942 (ref.bundesarchiv)
I speak no german at all so all my searches through Lexikon are through google translate.
Infanterieregiment 84 - Lexikon der Wehrmacht
From what I can figure out at that time he served under:
9th Army
102 Infantrie Division
?? Bataillion
?? Kompanie
84th Infantrie Regiment
Does this get me any closer to what his Erkennungsmarken would have been?
Any pointers to how to find more information appreciated

As the next of kin, if distant of a veteran I'd suggest you contact the Deutsches Dienstelle (WaSt) in Berlin. For a small fee they can send you the information they have on his war service, including his original Ekm details.

I can only echo this comment. You will need to send a copy of his death certificate and they will send you what information they have on him.
It worked for me. You can send your request in English.
Ralph.
