    Hello,

    Heim. Pf. Park 5 = Heimat-Pferde-Park 5 - 5th Home Horse Park

Yup, the Wehrmacht is mostly thought of as a very modern military force with a lot of mechanization and for the time the most advanced engineering in vehicles- both true, but a large percentage of it was still horse-drawn as well.

Thank you gentlemen. Was tossing up between motor and horse.
To right Matt, horses paid a major part in German military transport in WW2 From arty to field kitchens and every thing between. Each Inf. company had i think 3 horse drawn wagons, one as a field kitchen and two for baggage. As fuel became more and more scarce horse drawn transport had to be utilised at most logistical levels.
A bonus was i guess was that horses were a readily available soarce of food.
Thanks again for the id fella's.
Cheers and have a good one

Exactly. And yet it's surprising how few Veterinär and Pferde-Park discs one sees- with something like a million horses in service (I think is the figure I've read), one would expect a good deal more 'horse support' type units to be around...
