Hello Malcolm,
The first thing I see is wear to the cord holes which is a good sign.
I am not up on units like some here but, from what little I know, this could represent 10 Schule Kompanie, Motorized Jaeger Reg. Grossdeutschland.
Probably making a fool of myself but, someone will be along to tell you so.
Ralph.

Hello Ralph.
Thank you very much for the kind reply and helpful information – it is greatly appreciated.
Would this unit be a training school?
Kind regards, Malcolm.

That would be 10. Schützenkompanie (motorisiert) Infanterieregiment "Großdeutschland" [10th Rifle Company, (motorized), Infantry Regiment "Großdeutschland"].
(In German, the capital letter "J" instead of a capital letter "I" in abbreviations like this was used to avoid confusion with a Roman numeral "I".)
I cannot comment on the tag itself, though.

This is actually 10 Kompanie Motorised Infantry Regt Gross Deutschland !!

I like Andreas have not seen a tag such as this before perhaps he could comment on the spelling of Großdeutschland on this EKM ?

HPL2008 and Paul D.
Thank you both for your help in this matter.
As it would appear to have belonged to a soldier in a well known unit, it is probably going to be a fake!
Kind regards, Malcolm.
