A5 would be the Stammrolle, meaning his name on the rolls/roster...

Letter "A" indicates civilian personnel (Angestellter), number "5" his number.

Just to clarify- A5 is a Stammrollennummer- master roll number Stammroll or Stammrollen is the master roll itself
