Hello friens, here is my newest add, a nice early SS-T tag:
Nice- it seems that unit only existed for a year: from 9.40 to 9.41, when it became SS-Ersatz-Bataillon Nord.
Ohhhhh- pillage then burn...
Nice tag mate.
What does the "T" stand for?
Looking for the photo albums of Leutnant Emil Freitag, 3. / G.R. 377
The Totenkopfverband were the original early Totenkopf units that were formed, they later were included in the formation of the Totenkopf Divison as the Waffen SS was organised and expanded also other units such as SS Nord were originally made up from SS TV units which is why so many TK Dog tags are found in Karelia, very similar to the way the early SS VT units went on to become the Das Reich Divison of the Waffen SS.
The gates of hell were opened and we accepted the invitation to enter" 26/880 Lance Sgt, Edward Dyke. 26th Bn Northumberland Fusiliers , ( 3rd Tyneside Irish )

Thought shall be the harder , heart the keener,
Courage the greater as our strength faileth.
Here lies our leader ,in the dust of his greatness.
Who leaves him now , be damned forever.
We who are old now shall not leave this Battle,
But lie at his feet , in the dust with our leader

In this case it's technically Totenkopf-Standarte; the listing for the unit reads:
SS-Ersatz-Bataillon (A)
* 6.9.1940 in Goslar als Ersatz-Bataillon für alle im Reeresverband eingesetzten SS-T (Totenkopf)-
Standarten; wurde September 1941: SS-Ersatz-Bataillon Nord in Weblaund.
Ohhhhh- pillage then burn...
