Default My First Disk. Thoughts. Authentic?

    Hi,

I had received this tag in a small lot of items. I don't know anything at all regarding German militaria, as I focus on US items (a lot cheaper!). I've taken a look at many of the tags here on the forum, and noticed that this one is a bit different, regarding the holes in the disk, and also that this appears to be named, which I imagine is different as I thought that tags are never named.

This is what is on the disk, front and back:

    Albrecht Ketzel
    Plauen. I Vogtl.
    2 FRS Batl.134 2.R.D.
    24 10 95

    R.I.R. 243 I.M.G.K.
    No. 71

Thanks, and I look forward to learning something new!

Looks like an authentic German WW1 disk IMO.
The pros will be here soon enough.

    24 10 95 - date of birth

    Second assigment:
    R.I.R. 243 I.M.G.K. = Reserve-Infanterie-Regiment 243 1. Maschinen-Gewehr Kompanie = 1st MG Company/ 243rd Reserve Infantry Regiment

Very nice- definitely authentic and in relatively nice shape for something nearly a century old

That's great news! I understand that in Europe, the privacy laws are quite different than here in the US, although is there any way to find out anything about the soldier that this belonged to?

Thanks very much for the information, and sorry for putting this in the WW2 section.

So far as I know, only family members can request service records from the Deutsche Dienststelle, and no worries- this section really should include WWI since Erkennungsmarken are really a specialized subject of their very own
